Pushing the Policy Envelope: How Far Can and Should we go to Advance What Research Suggests Will Improve Outcomes for Youth and Adults in the Justice System? FILLING
Feedback form is now closed.
Limited Capacity filling up

Across many projects at the Justice Center, we are required to make recommendations to policymakers and agency leaders on how best to improve their justice systems. In doing so, we must often balance what data illustrates are the critical system challenges and research would suggest are the best ways to address these challenges with what is politically palatable and feasible. The goal of this session is to engage in a cross-divisional discussion about emerging reform strategies in the juvenile and adult systems that push the boundaries of what the Justice Center has typically recommended; consider to what extent and in what ways we feel comfortable advancing such strategies; and more generally, discuss the challenge of working with jurisdictions to advance those reforms that are most feasible vs. what we think would be most effective.
